Are YOU ready??

What do you know?
What do you think you know?
What don't you know?

Check out the on-the-air training tips for 12 May through 10 Oct 2008.  You might be surprised, and if not, you will be reassured.

Mike, AS0 TWO, in cooperation with Randy, AS0 FOUR, has developed a great series of ECOM training tips that will help you be ready, know what to do, and how to prepare for any MARS ECOM situation.  Well, maybe not every possible contingency, but you'll be far ahead of those who do not.

This isn't just for new members, or those planning to deploy to the field in an ART team.  It's for every single member of the program.  (Tango members see below)

Mike is planning certificates for those who take the series and pass a review test on the material.  He's even looking into some sort of pin you can proudly display that shows you are ECOM ready and qualified.  Details have not been finalized, but to qualify for the pin you will need to:
   be a regular, honorary, or associate member of Region Ten in good standing**;
   have met minimum participation requirements for the last 6 months* (valid Leaves of Absence are acceptable);
   take the series of ECOM training tips on the air or download (from AS0 FOUR page) and study them, preferably both;
   pass the review quiz on these training tips;
   take, pass, and receive the certificates for FEMA courses 100, 200, 700, and 800.
You must take these FEMA courses on line and obtain the FEMA certificate, regardless whether you also took the course through an emergency management agency such as local sheriff's office and received their certificate.
   have drafted and sent at least one properly formatted EEI message (actual event or exercise);
   Checked into the PA1E net at least once by voice and once by digital means (separate net dates) in the last 6 months; and,
   participated in at least one ECOM exercise at your State, Region, or Pac Area level, or an actual ECOM event anywhere, in the last 12 months.

* Time frames are based on full months prior to the month you apply for your pin.

** Tango members are encouraged to participate, but will need to complete their Trial Service and be advanced to regular membership before applying for a pin.  Trial Service Participation time will count.
