  Taking tests
When you are ready to take a test for one of the training courses you will need to obtain an answer sheet.  The most commonly used one is the standard MARS answer sheet (see below).

Neatness counts!  Fill in ALL the blanks at the top of the answer sheet.  Answer sheets that you can complete right on your computer and forward electronically or print out are readily available.  It is preferred that you not hand write the answer sheet, but above all it must be legible.  Mark your answers by marking the box for the correct answer.

Mark your answers clearly.

Staff who grade tests haven't taken the Crystal Ball 101 course.  As such, if they can not clearly and immediately determine your choice on any given answer, or if you leave an answer blank, it will be marked wrong.

 Testing Instructions
Each course or set of courses offered by Navy-Marine Corps MARS (MOC, NMO series, etc.) has it's own instructions on taking tests and where to send your answer sheets for grading.

Courses offered by other agencies (such as the FEMA  ICS course), or which are graded by other than NMC MARS staff may have their own testing instructions, grading procedures, answer sheets, and directions where to send your answer sheet(s).

If you have questions about taking a test, where to send it, etc. contact your State Four for guidance.

 Answer Sheets
The NMC MARS Standard Answer Sheet is arranged to accommodate 100 questions.  Most tests won't have that many questions.  Mark only the number of questions your test has   Each question number on the answer sheet can accommodate up to five possible answers, A thru E.  Not all questions will have five choices.  Use A. and B. respectively for True or False answers.

On the odd chance you find a test with more than 100 questions use two answer sheets.  Be sure to fill out the top section completely on both sheets AND mark them at the top left as "page 1 of 2" and "page 2 of 2".  If you do not follow these simple steps you may receive a low or non-passing grade, or your test may be returned to you ungraded.

 Get an Answer Sheet
The Standard Answer Sheet will suffice for most course work. Click this link to get a Test Answer Sheet This may take a moment to download.  Third Party courses, such as FEMA's Incident Command System (ICS) series, may want you to use their answer sheets.

You can save to a PDF file even if it says you can not.
This answer sheet is in a PDF file.  If you do not have the full version of Adobe Acrobat you may see a message that states you can not save edits to the document.  While this is true, in regard to the standard save method, there is another way.

There is a printer utility available for Windows called "PDFCreator".  It is free.  Once you download and install it, you can save any document in just about any program by selecting [File>Print] from your toolbar then select "PDFCreator" as the printer.  After a few seconds it will prompt you for a file name.  Enter something appropriate and click [Save] button at the bottom.  Another window will come up so you can select the directory.  Again click save.  It is now saved in a PDF file.
